With Eskom already draining mense of their krag, the Blitzboks want to feed off Capetonians’ energy to lift gold at the Cape Town Sevens this weekend.
According to Chris Dry there will be more than enough energy to draw from as the Blitzboks aim to win their first home tournament in four years.
He says: “We are very excited to be back in Cape Town.
“We only have one tournament at home.
“You know, Cape Town is such a vibey city - the energy of Cape Town is incredible.
“I don’t think anywhere in the world the stadium has got so much energy and that’s one of the biggest things for us.”

After not making the final of their home tournament in the last two years, the Cape crowd is expecting the Blitzboks to be there when the final whistle blows at the tournament.
Dry, though, says they don’t feel the pressure.
He explains: “Anywhere you, go we go out to perform - here or anywhere in the world.
“We are going to draw off that energy [from the crowd].
“There is a lot of support here and that’s a positive more than a negative.”
The Blitzboks have been drawn alongside world champions Fiji, USA and Japan in Pool A.

And despite this being a tricky group, Dry is min gespin adding: “There are no easy games anymore. It’s going to be a tough pool, but it’s good that we have a tough pool.”
Winners in Dubai, Dry knows coach Neil Powell’s men still have a lot to work on if they want to play the perfect game.
He concludes: “I don’t think we were successful in all the games [in Dubai].
“And to get that consistency is more important [than anything else].

“It’s about the little victories and if we put that together [we will be happy].
“We have to improve in quite a few aspects in our game.”
