Despite their recent form away from home, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus says his team will not get ahead of themselves just yet.
The Springboks became only the second team to beat Scotland at Murrayfield in 12 Tests - with New Zealand being the other, having beaten the Scots 22-17 last year.
With the Boks also having beaten the world champs away, Erasmus believes that they are finding their feet on the road.
He explains: “It [the 26-20 win] is satisfying in terms of coming over here and beating them over here, while they’re having a good home run.
“We won’t get carried away with that [away form] because we lost against Argentina away, we lost against Wales in Washington.
“I think the trend is you start winning when guys get four, five or six caps to their name.
“Normally the more inexperienced players you have, the more you struggle away from home.
“You feel more comfortable at home. I think we’re getting over that hurdle now.
“The players are starting to feel comfortable away from home.
“We didn’t play well [against Scotland], but we were gutsy.”
The win might come at a cost, though, as video evidence suggested that Bok captain Siya Kolisi headbutted one of his opponents while he was held on the ground.
If disciplinary steps are taken against the Bok skipper, he might miss this weekend’s trip to Wales where the Boks will look to finish their overseas tour on a high.
