The Blitzboks want to hit the ground running at the Sevens World Cup in San Francisco in two weeks’ time.
Coach Neil Powell and his charges are currently preparing for the tournament in Mossel Bay, before the mentor trims his squad to 12 players on Wednesday.
After winning back-to-back Sevens Series titles, South Africa enter the tournament as one of the favourites.
Powell, though, knows they will have to be at their best from the first whistle to the last and says: “We are now fully focussed on what we want to achieve in San Francisco and all our planning is geared towards being ready to that first match.
“The format of the Rugby World Cup Sevens is such that no team can afford even the slightest slip up, and we need to ensure our timing is right.”
South Africa will face the winner of Ireland and Chile in their first match of the event, on Saturday, 21 July.
