Cape Town City have a point to prove when they face off with Orlando Pirates in the PSL at Danie Craven Stadium tomorrow.
The teams met in the first round of the MTN8 earlier in the season and City were edged out 1-0 by the Sowetan giants after playing for an hour with 10 men after Fagrie Lakay was sent off.
Since then Pirates have picked up just one more point than their Cape hosts – nine to eight after five league games – ahead of their showdown.
And while coach Jan Olde Riekerink says the mission this weekend is not revenge, they do want to avenge themselves when the whistle blows tomorrow.
After the AmaZulu draw last Saturday, Riekerink says his manne were disappointed with the result and he puts that down to their newfound mentality and their eagerness to perform.
And the Dutchman wants his span to take the game to Bucs, saying: “We have Pirates now and my first wish is to finish the game with 11 v 11, because I only played this game with 10 men.
“In the loss, we were the better team.
“But this game will be about whether we want to play black or white, in the chess way – do we have the initiative or do we wait for Pirates.
“My players don’t want to play the black, so we will take the initiative.”
