Cape Town’s National First Division clubs return to action this weekend, with Cape Umoya and Ubuntu Cape Town involved in a bottom-of-the-table derby at Boland Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ubuntu won their match against second-placed Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila before the break, so they go into this clash with a bit of confidence.
Meanwhile, Umoya lost to Real Kings and dropped into the relegation zone as result.
The Mother City’s hope to win promotion is Stellenbosch, who are the current pacesetters and one of the teams with the most years in the NFD.
The Boland-based outfit travels to Uthongathi FC, who are not too far off the pace in fifth place.
Ajax Cape Town will be looking to bounce back to winning ways under caretaker coach Calvin Marlin when they host Royal Eagles at Athlone Stadium.
In case you missed it: The draw for the NFD Qualification Competition for the Nedbank Cup was conducted on Monday.
The 16 clubs will battle it out for the eight NFD spots in the last 32 of this year’s national tournament.
The fixtures are scheduled for the weekend of 1 and 2 December.
Stellenbosch will host Mbombela United, Ubuntu will travel to Tshakhuma; while Umoya welcomes TS Sporting and Ajax travel to TS Galaxy.
