As much as I dislike Tottenham, I cringed when I watched Hugo Lloris land awkwardly and bend his elbow backwards… ouch!
I wouldn’t wish that kind of injury on any player and I hope he recovers quickly… saying that I was more than happy to see Brighton bully and break Tottenham.
Of course, this followed the brutal 7-2 hammering by Bayern Munich and I guess Poch was expecting some kind of reaction if anything to appease the fans.
Lloris’s injury was used as an “excuse” by the coach, saying it had “an emotional effect on the team”, which I’m sure it did.
But the 90-minute performance was unacceptable by any standards, let alone a side that (before the Champions League final) made such an impact in Europe in last year’s competition. Not a single player stood out.
The whole Spurs side looked deflated, not the usual clever running off the ball or hard press. The tackling was noticeably weak from a jittery defence and the forwards were slow and blunt.
Christian Eriksen couldn’t give a flying fart and even the dependable "one of our own" Harry Kane looked like he was just dying for a cuppa tea.
Whatever the reason is behind the sudden demise of Spurs, seeing a team of millionaire superstars behaving like that is disgusting. All the pride, all the promise, all the huge money fans lay out every season to back their club and these w****** can’t be bothered!
Poor old Mauricio Pochettino, you can just see it in him… the regret at not leaving after the Champions League final.
I see some disgruntled Manchester United conspiracy theorists reckon Mauricio is simply f*****g it up at Spurs to force a move to Old Trafford!
Onto more positive stuff and what a cracker at Anfield on Saturday.
I’ve never completely believed in Brendan Rodgers as a top-flight coach, but there’s no doubt he’s proper value for money.
After Leicester’s unexplainable title winning season and subsequent loss of players, we all thought they’d do a Blackburn. But he’s taken that squad by the scruff of its neck and moulded them into one of the league’s best outfits.
They’ve been great to watch this season and could quite easily have taken points off Liverpool. It was a really good quality game.
The Scousers weren’t at their best, there seemed to be a lot of miscommunication between the front three, but a lot of that was due to the energy Rodgers' team showed.
With a bit of squad strengthening in January, I don’t see why the Foxes can’t be considered a definite top-six side?
But Sunday was to carry even bigger stories! Wow… did that really happen?
Wolves at Eastlands! We all know they’re a neat footballing side, but to pull that off?
I know everyone is saying the league is over with an eight-point gap so early in the season, but let’s not get carried away yet.
If anything, Liverpool have looked well below par. Ok, better than the chasing pack, but nowhere near what they were last season.
And yes, after the 93rd-minute winning penalty, I keep hearing “that’s how champions win”.
But those of us who’ve been around long enough will know, there’s a looooong way to go.
Sorry to end on a sad note, but did you see Ole "at the wheel" Gunnar Solskjaer giving his post-match interview?
Shame man, he looked like a ghost.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a white guy that white. Man looked like a "Walking Dead" extra.
Over his head, destined to fail… how long can this go on for? Thankfully for Manchester United we hit an international break this weekend…
A bit of time to regroup before the following Sunday as the Scousers descend on Old Trafford… oh dear.
