All is not well at Hamiltons in this season’s Super League A.
Despite a golden run in May and June which saw them win three games in a row, Hammies have not won any other match this year.
And last weekend they got their latest setback when they were downed 33-27 by Villager in the oldest “derby” in Cape rugby.
It doesn’t get easier for Hammies this weekend when they host False Bay at the Stephan Oval on Saturday.
Green Point will be abuzz with action as SK Walmers will face Durbell just across the road from where Hammies will be doing battle.
Looking to become the new sheriff in town, Walmers beat Paarl 31-24 last weekend to add to their shock 36-29 win over UniMil the week before.
Having started the season on the slow side, with three defeats in a row to tough opposition (False Bay, UCT and Maties), Walmers are proving that they won’t be pushovers this year as they look to climb into the top six for a playoff spot.
Away from Green Point, there will be an interesting relegation clash taking place in Parow.
Hosts NTK, still in search of their first win this year, will face another winless side in Primrose.
Barring a draw in that match, one of the two teams will get their first taste of glory and it’s anyone’s guess as to who will walk away with the points.
In Ravensmead, there will be another match that will be tough to call when Tygerberg host UniMil.
With both teams blowing hot and cold this year, it’s the Tiere who will enter the match with some momentum after beating Primrose 46-6 last weekend.
They also dispatched of False Bay the week before, while UniMil have lost three of their last four encounters.
With top six spots up for grabs, both teams will go all-out for a win.
