It’s no secret that I am no fan of Donald Trump.
So the complimentary piece I wrote about him last week was very hard for me, but I do believe in giving praise where and when it’s due.
But it didn’t take long for him to disappoint me yet again.
So all those Trump fans out there, who write angry and often ugly letters to me whenever I express my disgust for the man, sharpen your pencils, because this one is going to warm your chests.
I’ve always stopped short of calling him a monster, because that word is reserved for truly despicable scum, like Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Charles Manson and Adolf Hitler.
But after the happenings of the past two weeks, Trump has secured a place for himself on that list of heartless psychopaths.
Using every legal trick in the book to prevent immigrants from entering your country is one thing; ripping young children away from their parents and keeping them in detention camps as a warning to other illegal immigrants, is another type of evil.
And those who justify his actions, are quite simply blind supporters of evil, for whom there exists a very special VIP section in hell.
I was barely able to keep it together while listening to audio of a six- and seven-year-old being interrogated by immigration officers, after being separated from their guardians. All they could do was cry.
I also saw a news anchor breaking down while reading the story on air.
Those are human reactions to an inhumane story in a country that sees itself as the guardian of global human rights.
But then what do you expect in the same week that America withdrew from the UN Human Rights Council?
The fact is, Trump truly has sunk to the depths of human depravity.
And if Americans don’t vote him out in 2020, then they will be signalling to the world that they have too.
