It's big show time, when all the car fans come out from winter’s hibernation to welcome the summer and revel in all things petrolkop at our very own race track.
The Killarney Motor Show, which would’ve kicked off on Sunday, 27 October, has been postponed to 8 December due to weather concerns. But it still promises a line-up to rev your engines proper.
Powered by KFM 94.5, this year the show promises a new category of exhibitors, a better more accessible layout, close to 1300 vehicles on display, and more than 100 stalls catering for the car and the tummy. Plus live music and a fun fair in the pits paddock for the kids.
With four active circuits in play, new car dealers get a test drive zone for the first time, a great opportunity to get behind the wheel of your next ride.
Public karting circuit gets you behind the wheel of these low and blitsvinnige machines, ensuring serious thrills, and a great way to start a Formula One career.

Non-stop entertainment zone features stunts, drifting, burnouts, classic bikes, vintage tractor parade and even a tug-o-war. Bobby imagines this zone will be humming with thrills and excitement.
The back straight gets a fair share of the action with Dakar Rally hero Kobus Potgieter running a round of the Western Cape Foot-Up Trials championship. There will be demos, tight turns, wheelies and a balancing competition for those confident and capable on two wheels. The Le Riche brothers will make a turn, showing off their gravity-defying stunts, including riding almost four metres straight up the side of a truck.
Then there’s the Streetcar Show on the Porsche Club straight, bound to pull the masses, as Killarney has the capacity to attract a collection of cabbies like no other among our Cape events. From muscle to hot-rod to totally uitgecustom to stance, expect to see the cream of the crop.

Nice thing, coming out of winter, you’ll likely see old favourites that have had a makeover for the summer season. It’s always lekker to see what the koppe have come up with next. Who knows, trends could be set.
Restored bikes will take up the sweep of the KFM Corner, with dealers’ stands in the paddocks, as well as custom machines from the Cape’s finest workshops.
For the off-road fundis, Adventure City brings a huge display of machinery plus much of the associated gear, including trailers and camping equipment.
Whenever Bobby goes to a show like this, there comes the time when he thinks to himself, “Ja, this is all lekker, but wouldn’t it be nice to get some serious adrenalin instead of just looking and getting cravings.” This year, there’s that chance. You can ride shotgun with drivers of the E36 cup as they throw their BMW 3 series racers sideways in the Extreme Arena.

Regarded as one of the best balanced sports sedans on offer, the straight-six gets thrown through curves that would daunt others. The cars are modified for racing with very short gearing so, although their top speed is only around 185km/km , their acceleration is electrifying.
To be part of the action will cost you R200 for five intense laps, booked at the E36 pits at the end of the main straight. The ride is open to all adults and children who are tall enough to see over the dashboard when strapped in. The E36 crew will provide you with a crash helmet and strap you in for the slide of your life.
Seems a no-brainer for all petrolkops looking for a day propvol motoring goodness. Book at Computicket or pay at the main gate, tickets go for R100 for adults, R40 for pupils and kids under 12 get in free.
