“Are you serious is this real? No way!”
This was the shocked response from the PJ Twins when they were called up to share a stage with Tevin Campbell on 27 July at the Grand Arena, GrandWest.
Peter and John Talmarkes, 26, from Bonteheuwel, say they were dumbstruck to learn they were invited to join the line-up for Marmalade Productions’ 10th anniversary show featuring the US R&B star.
“We attended the Tevin Campbell show in 2013, it was amaze-balls!” said Peter.
“There isn’t anyone out there who doesn’t know a Tevin Campbell song or two; his songs are smooth and easy to sing.”
The twins, who recently made the top 5 of The Voice SA, say they can’t believe the invite was real, but “obviously we accepted this gig because who in their right mind would turn down an opportunity like this?”
“Now we get the chance to see him perform up close. We are ecstatic.”
Idols 2007 winner Jody Williams was the last to hear about being on the line-up.
“I knew I’m going to perform at a show on 27 July, but I didn’t know it was for the show with Tevin. My boyfriend and I love Tevin Campbell and we would have gone to the show as a normal audience member,” she says.
“I feel so taatie that everyone knew about it before me, I was so busy with other things.”
The Black Ties, Claire Phillips, James Bhemgee, Mujahid George, Robin Pieters, Salome, Sasha Lee Davids and Vuvu Kumalo complete the line-up.
Tickets, at R195 to R350, are available at Computicket.
