Q
Dear Auntie Pearl, I’m having such a hard time finding work and I have two of my own children to care for, and things are just really a struggle.
I used to work as a nanny, but the child then started school this year and I lost that job.
It’s so depressing because my child wants to go to something at his school but then there is no money.
I don’t feel like a good mother. Please pray with me for a door to open.
From Depressed.
A Darling, you have to try to get these dark thoughts out of your head.
Auntie know it’s easier said than done, but being so negative and depressed is just going to make dinge worse and not better.
Auntie doesn’t want to make light of your k** situation, Auntie weet mos it’s tough out there and mense don’t have jobs, but like daai old school tunes says – “Always look on the bright side of life”.
Remember, there are always mense who have it worse off than you.
And what’s more important are your laaities. Your children need you.
The best thing you can do is to keep on pushing through and being a good role model for them.
You need to be open to new opportunities, advertise your talents and work experience.
Auntie wants you to go ahead and contact the mense at DreamWorker.
According to them, 27 percent of South Africans are unemployed, but the reality is probably much higher.
But at DreamWorker their goal is to get as many people into employment opportunities as possible.
Their head office is in Woodstock and you can also phone them on 021 448 5828.
And the next time you feel so depressed, you should talk to the mense at Life Line – their telephone counselling line is anonymous and confidential.
You can contact them on 021 461 1111 or 0861 322 322 for telephone counselling, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
Or contact the centre closest to you for a face-to-face counselling appointment.
You can phone Bishop Lavis on 021 934 4822, Cape Town on 021 461 1113, or Khayelitsha on 021 361 9197.
Good luck hartjie, you are in Auntie’s prayers.
