The Robin Pieters Lock Down Live Show was a hit on Friday as more than 8000 streamed it online.
The Cape Town singer and the band Signature SA along with his MC in the USA, Morné Meyer, managed to raise money to buy 2000 loaves of bread for hungry people.
“The show was a huge success, it was quite overwhelming because there was nobody but cameras around me, which was so intimidating,” he says.
“I find that the screams and cheers of an actual live audience is what drives me and now this ‘new norm’ of just having cameras swirl around me, made me so nervous.”
The three-hour virtual concert featured original songs and cover versions, and was recorded at Penny Lane Studios in Wynberg.

Robin, 29, says he didn’t expect the volume of views because of it being Ramadaan and people having data struggles.
“By the time we closed the show, there was still 5 000 people watching and this proved that people really came to support,” he says.
“We decided this will be done every second week with a host of artists performing and I’ll be the host of the show. I’ve already got another artist who wants to perform.”
NOT PIETERING AROUND: Live show
It wasn’t all plain sailing though, as Robin’s social media got hacked the day before the gig.
“The show was going to be aired on my Facebook page but then my page was hacked and I was forced to stream in on YouTube. I’ve since had to delete my hacked account,” he says.
Robin says R12 000 was already donated before the concert, more than 8 000 people all over the world watched, and over R20 000 was raised in total.
“This for me is very special and I am completely thankful for the support,” adds Robin.
