Craig Baba, 19, has been playing golf since he was 13 and has already toured South Africa, Scotland and England. Now the young golfer hopes to polish his skills in the Athletes USA academy.
Baba said he needed R62 000 to pursue his studies in sport management science and to play golf internationally.
He has won numerous medals, trophies and certificates and has toured South Africa extensively playing golf.
Baba has been offered a portion of a scholarship by the academy, but has no sponsor, and needs to fund his trip and have pocket money to further his long-time dream of becoming an international golf player.
He trains at the Rondebosch and Salt River golf clubs and said he had a very difficult up-bringing.
“I have excelled in a sport that is not played in our disadvantage community.
“This excites me and I want to make a difference. I believe I have what it takes to be a champion. I need to be challenged. The academy offers all that I need to excel in my career. This will help me get to the next level in my academics and sport.”
Paul Mackenzie from the golf academy,Baba’s coach, said “Craig is humble, talented, hard-working young man. He needs to be given an opportunity.” To assist, contact David Baba on 0836258655.
