Two heartless skollies accused of killing an innocent young dad from Manenberg have been sent to the mang.
Irefaan Johnson, 40, and Diego Thomas, 22, made their first appearance in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court yesterday for the murder of Moegamat Sharief Solomons, 20.
The duo, who are allegedly members of the Americans gang, were busted for the drive-by shooting on Friday evening where Solomons was killed in Ruimte Road .
Sharief, an alarm technician, was struck when gunmen fired shots from a black Audi.
His uncle, Waleed Rajap, explained all the victim wanted to do was get food for his daughter when he was shot.
He told the Daily Voice that the family was left traumatised after they were told by witnesses that after being struck, Sharief fell to the ground and the gunmen stood over him as he begged for his life.
Despite shouting that he was not a gang member, they continued firing.
Sharief was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.
On Sunday, Manenberg detectives along with the Anti-Gang Unit arrested Johnson and a day later Thomas was also busted.
The duo made a brief court appearance where they were sent to Pollsmoor, as the case was postponed to 29 September for bail information to be compiled.
Manenberg SAPS’ Sanele Zama, says the bloody war between the Americans and the Fancy Boys has resulted in many deaths, the youngest being a 13-year-old boy who was struck in the abdomen by a stray bullet.
Sharief’s family were still too traumatised to attend court proceedings.
