Hundreds of children were left smiling from ear to ear as the Ottery Boyz MCC Bikers Club hosted their 11th annual toy run at the weekend.
Children from Freedom Park Informal Settlement, Retreat, Parkwood, Lotus River and Flamingo Informal Settlement received chips, sweets and bags of toys.
Club member and community activist Keith Blake says they were blessed with donations this year.
“We started handing over the goods on Saturday,” he says.
“Last Tuesday, a donor called and said they had a trailer and bakkie full of expensive toys.
“My wife Tina and I then packed three to four toys in a bag for girls and boys
separately.
“We also received 3 000 packets of chips and the Ottery Boyz, of which my son is the president, donated money.”
The convoy of 30 gevaarlike bikes handed out the goodies individually to the children.

“The first to receive was Freedom Park, I got a call from a butcher who donated meat, polony and sausage and I asked all women and children from Freedom Park to come to my home to
collect it,” Keith explains.
Clothes and bags of toys were also handed out.
“When I got home, I received a call from a woman from Retreat and she was asking if we had any toys for her children.
“I told her to get a bakkie and come collect toys here.
“The Parkwood councillor and two women also came to load a bakkie and kombi full of toys for their children in the area.”
Today, children from Hanover Park recieved their gifts.
“All I can say is we are truly blessed,” Keith adds.
