The 19-year-old man from Manenberg accused of shooting pregnant Tazneem Simons, 22, appeared briefly in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.
Mogamat Zaid Jacobs stands accused of two murders, with the first charge relating to a killing four months ago.
Details of this case were not revealed in court; only that the accused, along with an unknown number of men, had shot a man playing dice on a street corner.
The injured man managed to run off, but was hit by a car and died on the scene.
Jacobs is also accused of shooting Tazneem, who had been taking down washing and had run for her life, when skollies started shooting at one another.
She was shot in the head.
The prosecutor confirmed she was three months pregnant.

The matter was postponed to 25 July.
Outside court, Jacobs’ mother Kamielah Jaftha, 37, said when she heard cops were looking for her son, she went to Tazneem’s mother, Jasmine.
“I spoke to Tazneem’s family. Our children grew up together. They said they know Zaid did not do this. He never shot her.
“We just want the people responsible to be found,” Kamielah said.
She said his arrest is part of a war between the Fancy Boys and the Americans.
She claims her son is being targeted because he is the main witness in his father Anwar Jacobs’ death last year.

Anwar’s brother had apparently been arrested for the murder.
Kamielah says: “His uncle sent him a message to say they are waiting for him (in jail). They want to kill him now too.”
