The streets of Atlantis ran red with blood as seven people were brutally murdered over the past few days.
In the most gruesome incidents, a man’s headless and burnt body was found in a bush, while another man, who was stabbed to death, was filmed by onlookers as he took his last breath.
The 27-year-old man was stabbed in Robinvale on Wednesday.
A video clip shows him bleeding and writhing in pain on the ground.
While a few concerned women ask people to call the ambulance, no one lifts a finger to assist the injured man, who later died of his injuries.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says a murder case is under investigation.
“Circumstances surrounding the death of a 27-year-old man, who was fatally wounded in a stabbing incident at about 16:10 in Bunting Crescent, is under investigation,” Van Wyk says.
On Thursday evening, the badly decomposed and decapitated body of a man was found by children playing in a bush in Extension 12.
“It is believed the body belongs to a man who went missing on 31 January.
“An inquest was opened for investigation. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” Van Wyk said.
On Friday a 22-year-old man was found dead in the bushes between Wits and Protea Park with multiple stab wounds to his body.
“Circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at present.”
And early yesterday morning, a 30-year-old man was found stabbed to death in front of the local clinic in Gardenia Street, Protea Park.
“A murder case was registered for investigation,” Van Wyk added.
Chairman of the Atlantis Community Policing Forum (CPF), Warren Carolus, says crime is getting out of hand in the area.
“We are disgusted! From the CPF side, we will be asking all our neighbourhood watch members and local police to improve visibility at night and over the weekends as that is the time when the deeds are done,” he says.
