The man accused of murdering Manenberg ouma, Magdalene Isaacs, has made an application for bail amid an outcry from the community.
Trevor “Toyer” Michaels, 50, made his second appearance at the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he informed Magistrate Keith le Keur he wants to proceed with a bail hearing.
Michaels was arrested by Manenberg police after the body of the woman fondly known as Aunty Macy was discovered in her home in Irvine Street on 10 February by her daughter.

Hartseer residents gathered outside her home after it was revealed that the woman who cared for elderly people in her community had been viciously stabbed to death, allegedly by her boyfriend.
Her family told the Daily Voice she had been killed a day after returning home from a road trip with friends.
Her family has revealed that Michaels left behind a note in which he confessed to the crime and even erased text messages between the couple from her phone to destroy evidence.
Le Keur ruled that the bail hearing will be held on 11 March while Manenberg residents handed over a petition with nearly 1000 signatures calling for his bail to be denied.
CRUEL DEATH: Aunty Macy
Community leader Sheikh Fahkier Mohamed says the death of Aunty Macy has rocked the community but residents were taking a stand against gender-based violence.
“Her death has shocked the Manenberg community and so on Friday we went to court to show the family that we stand with them and we do not want him to get bail,” he says.
“We submitted a petition of nearly 1000 signatures to show the courts we are
serious.”
