A 37-year-old man was dragged out of a taxi and stabbed repeatedly allegedly by a mob of gang members at the Wynberg taxi rank on Tuesday.
Police were called to the taxi rank just after 11.15am where they found the man riddled with stab wounds.
The incident is allegedly linked to rival gangs the Mongrels and Six Bob gang.
It is believed between 15 and 25 young men pulled the man out of a Lotus River taxi at the terminus and began stabbing him.
Images of the incident went viral on social media showing the wounded man who was rushed to hospital.
Police sources reveal this could spark retaliation attacks between the two gangs.
“Its very rare for gang members to open a case,” says the source.
“They will be out for revenge.”
