One of the women who allegedly worked for suspected drug kingpin Fadwaan “Vet” Murphy as a drug packer has implicated him through banking transactions.
The woman, who cannot be named, took the witness stand this week at the Cape High Court where she first indicated that the statement she had given the detective, Captain Nadine Britz, “was lies” and claimed the cop had told her what to say.
Britz was then instructed to wait outside while the judge warned the woman that she had given the statement under oath as a 204, or State, witness.
The woman, from Worcester, was then questioned by State prosecutor, Aradhana Heeaman who handed her a photo album, where she identified the alleged drug house as 18 Reindeer Street, Lotus River.
Asked why she was at the house, the witness said she was brought there by Vet’s ex-wife, Shafieka Murphy, also an accused in the case.
Asked what she was doing at the premises, the woman said she had “packed tik”.
Heeaman then asked who employed her and who paid her, and she told the court Shafieka Murphy had secured her employment and that she had been paid “by a business”.
Heeaman showed her copies of bank statements for Ulterior Trading Solutions CC, Vet’s business, which is listed as accused number six, and the woman confirmed she was paid by this business.
On 18 September 2015, cops arrested the witness after drugs and money worth R4 million were found at the Reindeer Street house.
Vet, Shafieka, his sister Glenda Bird, as well as Dominic Davidson, Leon Paulsen and Desmond Jacobs are facing 229 charges relating to money laundering, dealing in drugs and racketeering.
