Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a five-year-old Lavender Hill boy who was shot dead on Saturday.
Valentino Grootetjie was killed just metres from his kitchen door in Drury Court when two gunmen opened fire on an alleged drug mert who was on the premises.
The little boy has been hailed a hero after he died in a hail of bullets while trying to protect his two-year-old brother.

A 22-year-old suspected mert was shot and seriously injured in the same incident and is currently in hospital.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detectives working around the clock in search of the suspects who were arrested on Monday.
“Following an incident where a five-year-old boy was shot dead on Saturday when (rival gangs) fired shots in Drury Court, Anti-Gang Unit detectives have been working around the clock in search of the perpetrators of the act,” she says.
“On Monday afternoon they apprehended two suspects aged 24 and 29 in connection with the murder and attempted murder.”
The suspects are expected to make their first court appearance at the Wynberg Magistrates' Court on Friday.
