A teenage boy has become the latest casualty of gang-related shootings on the Cape Flats.
Police were called to Talana Close in Leonsdale, Elsies River on Sunday just before 8pm and found the body of 19-year-old Thomas Parker.
Elsies River has been on high alert since the weekend where residents say shootings have been going on nonstop.
“It’s like living in the Wild Wild West,” one traumatised woman told the Daily Voice.
“It started on Friday; just when you think the shooting has stopped, it starts again in another street.”
Residents say a turf war is raging between the Bad Boys and Terrible Josters gangs.
It is alleged Thomas belonged to the Bad Boys gang.
It is believed he was ambushed by two gunmen apparently belonging to the Josters while walking to a nearby shop.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirms the shooting and that they have yet to make an arrest.
“The circumstances surrounding a murder case are under investigation after a 19-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded in Talana Close, Leonsdale, on Sunday at about 7.40pm by unknown suspects who are yet to be arrested. The investigation continues," he says.
