A Manenberg taxi driver appeared in the Athlone Magistrates' Court on Thursday on drug charges.
Cops say the man, who was found with tik, heroin and mandrax, visited the drug house at the wrong time and got caught up in a search operation at a popular pella pos in Jordaan Street, run by members of the Americans gang.
“The officers were conducting a search at a well known drug house in Jordaan Street and he was parked outside. It was after 2pm.
“The house is a pella pos run by the Americans and the police had a warrant to go in.
“But during the search he was seen sitting outside in his Toyota Quantum and they searched him and they found tik, unga and a half mandrax pill in his pockets.

“It is unknown whether he was selling or coming to deliver the drugs or if he had just bought it, but he had no money on him,” a police source says.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirms the arrest and says the 30-year-old driver was found with 25 units of heroin, 22 packets of tik and one half mandrax tablets in his possession.
“He will be charged for possession of drugs and will make his first court appearance on August 8 at the Athlone Magistrates' Court.”
Meanwhile, cops say the driver’s taxi is still parked outside the drug house.
