The family of an 18-year-old teen, who was allegedly gang-raped by four men, say they are tired of the delays as yet another postponement was granted on Monday at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court.
The boy’s aunt says: “We do not mind coming to court. This process is long and for them to get their punishment will also take long, but we want there to be movement in this case.”
Rameez Martin, 21, Ashley Titus, Yasien Sedick and Joshua Booysen appeared briefly where their bail application was postponed to allow the investigating officer to conclude his case.
The men are accused of kidnapping, rape and assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm.
It is alleged the four men took the teen to a backyard Wendy house where they shoved a bottle up his anus and raped him.
“They burnt papers between his toes and threatened him at knifepoint and gunpoint and beat him up. He told me they said they wanted to have a little fun with him. They told him they would kill him,” his traumatised mother said.
“They drew on him with a pen, the number 28 on his back and penises on his back and one thigh. One of their names was also signed next to the penises,” she added.

The boy’s aunt says he is recovering although he speaks very little and is receiving counselling.
“Our boy is healing. He has a strong support system and we will never let them take his life. We will see justice done.”
The boy was able to identify his attackers and took police to their respective houses.
The suspects’ bail hearing takes place on 20 August.
