An ou toppie’s taste for younger women has landed him in trouble after Heideveld skollies nearly killed him with his own gun.
Two suspected members of the West Siders gang appeared on attempted murder charges at the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after they were identified as being part of a trio who moered the 71-year-old man and stole his .38 special revolver on Sunday.
Acting police station commander, Colonel Sanele Zama, says detectives discovered the sordid tale of sexual favours, alcohol abuse and young women when the oupa came to the station on Tuesday claiming he had been robbed by skollies.
In 2017 the victim, who is a licensed firearm owner, was charged with negligence after a 29-year-old woman confessed to cops that she stole the firearm.
Zama says: “In that case two years ago, he told the officers he was robbed by the woman to whom he gave a lift after leaving the pub.
“She went on the run but after three months, she returned to Heideveld and was arrested.
“In her plea deal with the state, she told the courts that she had had sex with the old man in exchange for money but when he never paid her, she stole his gun and later sold it to a gangster in Mitchells Plain.
“It was retrieved and the owner charged with negligence, but the courts withdrew the charge and he was given his gun back.”
HOF TOE: Two skelms appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court for stealing a oupa's gun.
Officers got a skrik on Tuesday when the oupa returned to the station more than two years later saying his gun had once again been stolen.
Zama says he claimed he gave four young women a lift shortly after midnight on Sunday and as he dropped them, he was moered, his gun stolen and the skollies tried to kill him with his own weapon.
“The case was assigned to Sergeant Daryl van Noie and the four women were found.”
But in their statements, they gave cops a different version of events.
They admitted to leaving a pub in search of more beers and came across the oupa driving in the area and flirted with him and rubbed his chest, convincing him to buy them more beers.
The four women allegedly saw that the oupa was “tande nat” and say he waved his
revolver in the air and sang: “I love panties”.
‘SKELM’: Calem Norman, 22, arrested
The women led the oupa to a house in Longkloof Circle where they picked up three skollies and headed to Gatesville, where the oupa offered to buy them gatsbys.
Zama adds: “They ended up not buying food but they led him down a dark road where the three males attacked him and took his revolver.
“They fired a shot in the air and as the oupa fled in his White Nissan Tida, they fired two rounds at the vehicle.”
Van Noie arrested Calem Norman, 22, and a 16-year-old gangster who cannot be named.
They appeared in court on Thursday.
