Law Enforcement officers have arrested a 22-year-old man after he was caught with 188 packets of entjies at a tuck shop in Parow.
Law Enforcement officers were reacting to a tip-off when they swooped on the tuck shop in Parow Park on Tuesday just after 1.30pm.
The shop owner was arrested and charged with contravening the Covid-19 regulations, for the illegal sale of cigarettes.
Law Enforcement’s Inspector Wayne Dyason says they will be clamping down on people who are taking risks by selling cigarettes and other illegal items.
“This type of illegal activity nets the seller a tidy profit so they continually take risks,” he says.
On the same day cops nabbed two men in Military Road, Steenberg, walking with a computer monitor and a bag.
Inside the bag, officers found 20 kilograms of copper cables and tools.
They were charged for breaking lockdown rules.
Dyason explains: “One had a blue tog bag and was carrying a computer monitor. This aroused the officer’s suspicion.
“Upon opening the bag the officers discovered +/- 20kg of overhead copper cable and tools typically used by suspects who perpetrate cable theft.
“Both suspects were arrested for being in possession of stolen property, secondly in terms of the Criminal matters amendment act and thirdly for being in contravention of the disaster management act.
“The cable is City of Cape Town property.”
