A 44-year-old man, who is allegedly a member of the Junky Funky Kids in Bonteheuwel, was shot and killed by rival skollies.
It is understood a group of Stupa Boys gangsters opened fire on the victim in Rooihout Street on Sunday.
Adam Brown was shot multiple times in his head and body after more than 20 shots were fired at him.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says a murder case was registered for investigation.
“On Sunday just before 10pm, a 44-year-old man was shot and killed when shooters in a Toyota Etios and on foot descended on a house he was visiting in Rooihout Street.
“According to reports a silver Toyota Etios was driving slowly down the road when the occupants of the vehicle started shooting at the victim.
“The driver of the Toyota Etios then sped away and fled the area. Upon further inspection on the scene, it became clear that the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and succumbed due to injuries sustained.
“The suspects are unknown. No arrests were made,” Van Wyk said.
Shocked community members said Brown grew up in the area, with one neighbour saying his death has left them with mixed feelings.
“It is both tragic and kind of right. He was a Funky, yes, but he also was always there for his neighbours.
“It was dark when the shooting happened and we could not see so far down the road, but there are people who saw the shooters. I hope they go to the police,” said the neighbour.
