Police are being lauded after they made a R1 million drug bust in Kraaifontein on Wednesday evening.
Cops attached to Operation Thunder were carrying out an operation in the Scottsville area, known for its gangsterism and spike in drug abuse, and put a moerse dent in the supply for the pay day weekend.
While conducting a raid at a residence in Titus Street, officers hit the jackpot when they found 30 bags, containing 30 000 mandrax tablets in total.
The buttons are estimated to have a street value of over R1 million.

According to neighbours, the suspect is a well-known club rugby player and they were shocked at the arrest “as he seemed like a good guy”.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed the incident and says the stash was uncovered at 8pm.
“SAPS members attached to Operation Thunder arrested a 33-year-old suspect for possession of drugs at 8pm (Wednesday) night in Titus Street, Scottsville in Kraaifontein.
“The members were conducting an intelligence driven operation at a residential property in Scottsville and while searching the property, they discovered 30 bags containing over 30 000 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of over R1 million.
“The suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and once he has been charged, he will make a court appearance in the Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court,” Van Wyk said.
