Four people were arrested at an Athlone drug den after the Flying Squad recovered two stolen vehicles on Tuesday.
Cops swooped in on the house in Loerie Street, Bridgetown after neighbours reported one of the men was seen driving a car that he did not own.
According to a source the man and his friend were seen driving a fancy VW Passat while smoking buttons and the Parktown and Sonnebloem neighbourhood watches were alerted.
“One of the brothers of that house was seen driving the car and the police were called,” says the source.
“When they checked the vehicle they found the plates were swapped and the Passat was reported to the police because the owner, who is an advocate, was hijacked in Observatory.
“They also linked them to a Colt bakkie that was recovered in Kromboom Road.”
Police spokesman, FC van Wyk, says: “Officers received information of possible stolen vehicles at a premises in Loerie Road.
“Upon arrival at the address based on information received, they spotted the vehicle in the yard. Four suspects were arrested. The docket was sent for further investigation. The arrested suspects are due to appear in court once charged.”
Neighbours are rejoicing as the house has been a problem, saying: “It is a known pella pos and we are happy that something has happened because they smoke drugs there and go on with people.”
