A popular pella pos in Ottery has finally been shut down after cops evicted suspected gang members from the council flat on Thursday.
Residents rejoiced as Grassy Park police and Law Enforcement officers forced an alleged skollie and his girlfriend to vacate the flat at Skyline Court.
Police say the property was being used to smokkel drugs for the Mongrels gang.
This comes after the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on 31 August 2018 issued an order for the seven occupants to be evicted.
Shortly after 10am, a large contingent of police descended on the flat while aunties dressed in gowns cheered them on.
“Dis reg, meneer! Ander mense het huise nodig!” a woman was heard shouting.
Once inside, officers removed mattresses, urine buckets and piles of rubbish while kakkerlakke and mice could be seen scurrying on the cement floors.

“Kom, julle moet uit! Hier is julle papiere van die hof,” an officer said as a skollie was uitgeskop.
A team from the City of Cape Town cleaned up the flat before boarding it up.
Grassy Park Police Station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says the council flat was used for drug dealing and has been a problem for many years.
“It was used by the Mongrels for drug dealing, but people would also come smoke drugs there. The place is in ruins and the neighbours have been complaining for a long time,” he says.
SUCCESS: Tik, mandrax found
Mayco Member for Human Settlements, Malusi Booi, says they reacted after receiving reports of anti-
social behaviour at the flat.
“The lawful tenant of the unit passed away in April 2016,” he explains.
“In April 2017, a notice to vacate was served on all unlawful occupants in the unit.
“Failing to vacate and following various warnings, an eviction order for unlawful occupancy was granted by the court in August 2018.
“The City will assess the condition of the vacated property in order to do the necessary repairs so that the unit can be allocated to the next qualifying tenant.”

Officers of the Law Enforcement Social Housing Unit (SHU) also served notices and arrested the sister of a gang boss for drug possession.
The sister of convicted Junky Funky Kids gang boss, Tasliem Bianchi, was ordered to stop allowing the sale and smoking of drugs at her council house in Parkwood.
The unit also went around to the council house of a man known as Tamatie, a suspected leader of the Americans gang. During a search, officers found a used tik pipe.
An upset woman stood complaining as officers cut the gangster’s cameras and went through his personal belongings.
Their search paid off when they found 26 packets of tik and 26 half mandrax tablets hidden in a curtain.
Laing says they can shut down more drug dens if mense piemp.
