Cops have arrested and charged two men in connection with the murder of gangster lawyer Pete Mihalik.
The suspects, aged 26 and 31, are due to appear in court on Thursday.
The arrests come a day after he was gunned down while dropping off his son at school in Green Point on Tuesday morning.
The eight-year-old boy was also shot and wounded in the incident outside Reddam House School.
The boy’s grandfather, Janos Mihalik, on Thursday, said the child was out of danger and “not seriously injured”.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed: “Two men, aged 26 and 31 years old, were charged for murder and the attempted murder of a 50-year-old man and eight-year-old boy.

“The duo are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court [Thursday].”
She said the first suspect was taken in several hours after the shooting, while the second was apprehended in the afternoon.
Mihalik was shot outside Reddam House Primary School in Cavalcade Road while still seated in his black Mercedes Benz SUV.
GRIM: Lawyer Pete Mihalik’s body removed from scene after he was shot and killed
Two men reportedly pulled up in a silver VW Polo, and one walked up to Mihalik and shot him in the head through the driver’s window.
It’s believed the same bullet hit Mihalik’s son in the face, and the bullet was still stuck in his jaw on Tuesday night.
Mihalik died at the scene while his son was rushed to the New Somerset Hospital, stabilised and then transferred to a private facility.
Mihalik’s 17-year-old daughter, who is busy writing her matric exams, was not injured, according to police.
A witness at the scene described the two suspects as black males and said they fled in the Polo which had GP number plates.
Pete’s dad, Janos Mihalik, said he received a call from a relative in Pretoria informing him of the murder.
“It’s a terrible tragedy. We don’t know the motive of this,” he told the Cape Argus.
He said he saw his grandson: “He’s going to be fine. Fortunately, it’s not serious.”
Janos, who is also an advocate, said although he had not seen his son for some time, the two were meant to meet later this week.
He said he would often visit Pete’s teenage daughter after Pete’s wife’s death.
‘IT’S A TRAGEDY’: Janos Mihalik
Mihalik’s wife, who suffered from depression, committed suicide three years ago.
Reddam House was placed on lockdown on Tuesday and in a letter sent to parents, the school said trauma counsellors were brought in and security beefed up.
A friend and business associate of Mihalik’s told the Daily Voice the advocate had been preparing for an upcoming trial and had received threats on Monday.
“He and nine other advocates, some affiliated to this extortion case, have been put on a hit list,” said the insider, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“There are genuine concerns that something in this trial is going to be revealed and someone wants that to remain a secret. Everything comes back to this case.”
‘DIK DING’: Nafiz Modack
Mihalik was representing ‘underworld figures’ Nafiz Modack, Colin Booysen, as well as Ashley Fields Jacques Cronjé and Carl Lakay.
The five were arrested last December, and face six charges, including money laundering and extortion, linked to the Cape Town nightclub security industry.
They are also charged with rendering a security service while not registered as a service provider.
Lakay, 45, was shot and killed in August while sitting in his car in his driveway in Goodwood.
Mihalik’s former partner, Advocate Noorudien Hassan, was shot and killed while seated inside his car in front of his Lansdowne home in November 2016.
