Law Enforcement officers have been coming down hard on drug peddlers abusing the City of Cape Town’s rental stock.
Officers attached to the Social Housing Unit made arrests in Heideveld after two people were caught selling dagga.
Law Enforcement spokesman, Wayne Dyason, says the suspects were nabbed in Laingsberg Road.
“A total of 23 bankies and four dagga cigarettes and an amount of R180 was seized from the 20-and 28-year-old male suspects,” Dyason said.
In Oribi Court in Hanover Park, a 24-year-old man was also arrested for selling drugs.
“A 24-year-old male suspect was found with 28 dagga stoppe, mandrax tablets and R199 in cash. The suspect was detained at Hanover Park SAPS,” Dyason said.
Officers then descended upon a residence in Riverside Court in Macassar.
“Officers confiscated 70 half mandrax tablets, 70 dagga stoppe, 15 small dagga bags, a medium dagga bag and four large dagga parcels. The two suspects arrested were detained at Macassar SAPS,” Dyason said.
In Lavender Hill, more suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs.
“A male suspect was arrested for dealing in mandrax at Drury Court. The suspect was found with 11 half mandrax tablets and a cash amount of R181. He tried to flee, but was caught after a short chase.
“In Fawley Court, a 28-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of mandrax and 40 dagga stoppe. He was arrested and charged at Steenberg SAPS.
“The illegal drug dealing and consumption in and around City rental stock will not be tolerated,” Dyason added.
