The car of the missing Edgemead Western Province Athletics board member has been found at the Cape Town International Airport.
Allen Barnes, 53, was last seen leaving his home on Saturday just after 3am en route to Strandfontein Pavilion to attend an athletics club event.
Barnes was driving his fiancée’s silver Toyota Corolla, which police say was found on Sunday at the Cape Town International Airport.
It is not clear how the car came to be at the airport.
To date, neither Barnes’ family or his fiancée have given statements to the media.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed the recovery of the vehicle but say Barnes may have gone to several places after he left his home.
“SAPS Bothasig is currently investigating the disappearance of the 53-year-old Mr Allen Andrew Barnes, who went missing on Saturday, 4 January 2020,” he says.
DISAPPEARED: Allen Barnes, 53

“When he did not attend an athletics event in Strandfontein, it appeared odd and he was reported missing.
