A gunman accused of killing an Elsies River “millionaire” mom in front of her children has been sent to prison after he was nabbed by the Anti-Gang Unit this week.
Jonathan Russell Solomons, 41, made his first appearance at the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for the murder of Lorretta Rubain, 42.
Rubain was shot and killed inside her flat at Springbok Place on 10 July shortly after 5pm.

Residents says the mom of four had made a third party claim and was awarded R2.6 million for her child who became disabled after an accident several years ago.
They say two weeks before her death gangsters, who tried to extort money from her, opened fire on her flat but she was not hurt.
According to a police source, on the day of her murder two gunmen who stormed her council flat, demanded money from her and then shot her in the chest.
Her traumatised children were moved away from the flat on the same day.
Solomons, an alleged member of the 26s gang, was arrested in Ravensmead on Tuesday after detectives tracked him down and he was charged with murder.

He made a brief appearance in court where he opted not to apply for bail and was sent to Goodwood Prison.
The case has been postponed to 21 August.
Cops say when questioned about the murder, Solomons remained toebek.
“There were two suspects, but he does not want to say anything about the case or the alleged extortion,” a source says.
