The 18-year-old Down Syndrome boy from Parkwood, who was nearly killed by Law Enforcement officers for playing with a toy gun, had reason to smile on Friday when he attended his matric ball in style.
Muzzammil Sedick needed help with his matric ball, and his community and a team from the Cape Town Fairy Godmother Project got together to give him a magical evening.
Last month, Muzzammil was nearly shot and killed when officers mistook the toy gun he was playing with for a real firearm.
The young man is currently undergoing trauma counselling for the incident, says his mother, Kasiefa.
The matric pupil at Glenbridge Special School in Diep River looked dashing in his burgundy suit and raybans.
He was accompanied by his pretty neighbour, Leyoncé, who was uitgevat.
There was also a tafel for Muzzammil, while the sleek white BMW, courtesy of All Wheels, sported his name on the number plate.

The red carpet was rolled out as the couple posed outside to the applause of excited neighbours before being driven to the Retreat venue.
The CEO of All Wheels, Fawwaz Mowlana, says after reading about Muzzamil’s plight in the Daily Voice he had to lend a helping hand.
The company has been providing transport to their balls for needy matrics.
“The matric ball was out of this world as people stopped and hooted and even left their passengers in the taxi just to take a picture with him,” he says.
A grateful Kasiefa thanked everyone for giving her son a perfect evening.
