A case of attempted murder is being investigated by Bishop Lavis police after a 35-year-old police sergeant was shot and injured on Saturday.
Just before 10pm residents alerted police to people stealing cables under the bridge on 35th Avenue in Lavis.
On arrival, cops spotted two men exiting the tracks with something in their hands.
When they spotted the officers, they ran off and cops gave chase.
One of the skelms fired a shot in the direction of the officers and the sergeant was hit in the leg.
Captain FC van Wyk says the members also fired a single shot.
“An attempted murder case was registered for investigation. Suspects are unknown and there are no are arrests,” Van Wyk said.
