The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) has reportedly revised its fatwa on the opening of mosques in Cape Town during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to VOC News, sources inside the MJC said the Friday prayers, or Jumuah, will now be suspended for four weeks.
However, mosques can remain open for the five daily prayers.
The decision was reportedly revised after considering new information and consulting with senior health experts.
On Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa banned all gatherings of more than 100 people.
