The Mitchells Plain man accused of raping and murdering six-year-old Stacey Adams also faces previous charges including murder, assault and the possession of an illegal firearm.
This was revealed at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Monday, where the suspect Christopher Brown’s rap sheet was made public for the first time since his arrest for Stacey’s murder in June.
Details of the previous cases were not explained but the court heard these were all still pending matters.
The prosecutor said Brown had not consulted with his lawyer since his previous appearance and asked for the matter to be postponed to 19 November for further investigation.
Brown’s legal aid lawyer then argued he had been in custody for several months now and asked for a final postponement.
As the magistrate looked through Brown’s docket, she noted he had been imprisoned since June and agreed to the final postponement.
None of Stacey’s family members, who were present in court, wanted to comment.
MURDERED: Stacey Adams, 6
In August, Brown ditched his bail application in Stacey’s case.
At the time, the State indicated the DNA report and crime scene photographs were still outstanding, while the post-mortem had been completed and received.
On Sunday 24 June, Stacey’s half-naked body was buried in a shallow grave next to Brown’s Wendy house in De La Rey Street in Eastridge.
Brown and Stacey’s mom, Sasha-Lee, lived together while Stacey lived with her ouma across the road.

Sasha-Lee was not at home at the time of her death, and Brown allegedly confessed to cops that he was angry at the mother for going to a party the Friday night, and he took his anger out on Stacey when she came looking for her mother on Saturday morning.
He allegedly confessed to trying to sodomise the child’s corpse but was not able to.
On the day of Brown’s arrest, community members tried to burn down his Wendy house and the main house, which belongs to his aunt.
His aunt and family have since been moved to a location outside Cape Town for their own safety.
