An Atlantis woman says she was shot five times - apparently twice with live rounds - and threatened by a cop who called her a “ vet n***”.
Mastoera de Klerk, 38, says on Sunday she was at a crime scene along Reygersdal Drive where a trucker had shot a man who tried to rob him.
“Everything was cool and calm and then this cop, McGuire, started shooting,” she explains.
“I went up to him and asked why he was shooting when we were doing nothing.
“We argued and his colleague told him to calm down.”
Mastoera says when she turned around, he started shooting her.
“I was walking away and he started shooting directly at me. I was shot five times and ran straight to the police station,” she says.

She sustained injuries to her thigh, hip, both knees and her bum.
The mother of three says she wanted to file a charge at the police station but “was not allowed to”.
“I asked for a J88 form. The officer said they didn’t have any because they didn’t print it.
“I left the station for the hospital, McGuire and the rest of the A-team [the nickname of the Crime Prevention Unit team] arrived and he said to me, ‘ kom jou vet n***’, and threw me in the van and said he’s going to charge me with public violence,” she says.
“They put me in the cells and he said, ‘ ek sal die ding in haar ma se p*** skiet, die stuk vet n***.”
She says McGuire’s colleagues came to speak to her afterwards.
“They kept telling me ‘j y sien ons issie saam nie’.
“When the late shift started, they took me to the hospital. They were concerned about me.”

Doctors were left puzzled when her X-rays came back.
“The doctor asked me whether I was sure I was only shot with rubber bullets because I had a bullet lodged above my knee and one above my hip.
“I couldn’t respond because I didn’t know,” she says.
She now wants to expose McGuire and wants him punished.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirms Mastoera was arrested on a charge of public violence after “attacking police”.
“The source (complainant) is encouraged to open an official case with Ipid (the Independent Police Investigative Directorate) or police management so that her allegations can be investigated,” Van Wyk adds.
