The investigating officer of a gang rape case took the stand and told the Mitchells Plain court the four suspects should not be released on bail as the community has vowed to “burn down their houses and kill them”.
Not only that, the family also fear the suspects will harm the 18-year-old victim “to shut him up”.
The family of the teenage boy who was kidnapped, raped, assaulted, tortured and stabbed along with the community is asking that bail be denied for alleged rapists Joshua Booysen, Rameez Martin, Ashley Titus and Yasien Sedick.
On Monday, Detective Paul Wolmarans testified that he had received information that the community of Lentegeur would go after the four accused, kill them and burn their homes down, should they be granted bail.
Family and supporters of the victim became emotional as a brief report from the medical examiners was captured.
The report states the boy’s anus was badly torn, while his toes were burnt and he had stab wounds.

The youngster had to receive stitches, the court heard.
The four suspects are accused of kidnapping, rape and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
They were arrested in June, hours after allegedly kidnapping the boy.
The teen told his mother of his ordeal, and went with police to point out his attackers.
He said the four had grabbed him while he was walking home and took him to one of their houses and in a Wendy house in the back, they shoved a bottle up his anus and raped him.
Bail arguments are set to take place on 17 September.
