Cops are searching for an 11-month-old baby who went missing in Wallacedene on Sunday.
The mother of little Akhimbali Mafentile apparently left the baby home alone and asked a friend to look after him for the night, but when she returned the next day he was gone.
She has not seen the boy since that night.
It is not clear whether she had left the baby with the friend or asked the friend to go to her house to look after the baby after she had left home.
Nor is it known whether the baby was kidnapped or not as the police are still investigating.
In a Pink Ladies missing person flyer that has been distributed, it is noted that the child was last seen at 10pm at their Bigaba Street home in the Marikana Squatter Camp.
“His mother left the child home alone and asked a friend to look after him.
“When she came back in the morning of the 22nd, the child was not with friends and not at home,” reads the flyer.
“He was wearing a grey all-in-one with blue car dots all over.”
The little boy has dark eyes, braided hair, medium weight, a small nose, flat ears and full lips.
Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut says they are investigating the circumstances of the disappearance.
“This office can confirm that the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of an 11 months old baby are being investigated by the Kraaifontein FCS.
“The child was last seen on 21 March 2021. Investigation continues.”
