Grassy Park cops have made a breakthrough in the triple murder case at a Lotus River take-aways and have arrested two skollies believed to be behind the gang hit.
Grassy Park Station Commander Colonel Dawood Laing says an intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of two members of the Dog Pounds gang for the shooting at Bismillah take-aways earlier this month resulting in an innocent worker being killed.
The lifeless body of Usiman M’Bwana, 28, was found next to that of two skollies at the back of the store.
At the time cops revealed that the deceased skollies were members of the Flakkas gang from Lavender Hill and had placed an order when they were approached by the shooter.
The duo, aged 33 and 28, ran to the back of the store where M’Bwana was frying slap chips and the gunman shot each of them in the head.
“An intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of the two men, aged 25 and 22, who are members of the Dog Pounds gang in Lotus River.
“Both of them have been charged with murder and will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday while the search for the third suspect continues.”
Laing says the motive behind the attack was being investigated: “It is unclear why the Dog Pounds gang would want to kill members of the Flakkas gang as there is no Flakka territory in this precinct.
“What we discovered is that the alleged shooter and one of the dead Flakkas were in the same cell in Pollsmoor Prison and we are tracing the links.”
