A man who went on the run after allegedly gunning down his ex-
girlfriend in front of her house in Montevideo has handed himself over to cops.
Police confirmed that 40-year-old Wayne Lawrence, escorted by his father, was arrested at the Bishop Lavis Police Station on Wednesday afternoon.
On Monday night, as Angela Marinus, 35, pulled up in her driveway at her home in Nevada Street in her blue Audi, a man came up to her and shot her twice - in her head and neck.
One of the bullets
ricocheted off her and hit her 16-year-old daughter, who was with her in the car, in the foot.
It is alleged that the shooter was Lawrence, and that he fled the scene.
Neighbours who witnessed the shooting took police to his house in neighbouring Montana, where he apparently jumped over the fence in his backyard and fled.

Neighbours who rushed to the scene say they were sickened by all the blood.
The car’s driver’s seat was soaked in blood.
A resident, who declined to be named, says the couple had grown up together in the area.
“On the outside, they had been a perfect couple, but he was jealous and he abused her. That is why she had left him,” said the shocked woman.
A man who worked with Angela says she was “very scared” of Lawrence who had allegedly been harassing her since she left him nine months ago.
A manhunt was launched for Lawrence on Wednesday, who was last seen crossing Robert Sobukwe Drive and entering the 8ste Laan informal settlement in Valhalla Park.

Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed Lawrence’s arrest.
“The suspect sought by police for a shooting in Montevideo on Monday evening has been arrested after handing himself over at the Bishop Lavis Police Station.
“He will appear in court within 48 hours, on a charge of murder and one of attempted murder,” Van Wyk said.
Angela’s family did not comment on Wednesday, and a family friend said they were still too traumatised.
