A Bonteheuwel laaitie has his sights set on the Big Apple and needs your help raising R100 000 “for a once in a lifetime opportunity”.
Angelo De Vos, 16, is currently a Grade 10 pupil at Trafalgar High School and has been chosen to represent South Africa at the International Modelling and Talent Convention (IMTA) hosted in New York City from 18 to 23 July 2020.
His mentor and teacher, Thelren Masimila, has backed Angelo from the beginning.
“When I met Angelo I told him he could actually earn money with modelling,” says Masimila.
“I took him for his first audition at the Hyde Hotel and he got a call back to attend the national convention.
“He basically started modelling and acting only earlier this year and he is already nailing it.”
The R100k would cover Angelo’s flights, registration for the convention, all workshops at the New York Film Academy, four boot camps in Johannesburg, training in acting and modelling, on and off stage training, a modelling and acting portfolio, as well as workshops where 350 casting agents and directors from Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York will be scouting talent.
LETTER: Invite to convention
The excited teen has the full backing of his school who will be hosting fundraisers to help raise the money.
“This opportunity means the world to me. It means a laaitie from Bonteheuwel has the opportunity to go to New York, something I never thought was possible. I will come back and share my knowledge with others here,” Angelo says.
