The nephew of alleged Sexy Boys gang boss, Jerome “Donkie” Booysen, who’s been charged with the murder of his girlfriend and young daughter has abandoned his bail application.
Ryan Kyle Smith, 28, is accused of stabbing to death Altecia Kortje, 26, and
seven-year-old Raynecia.
Their bodies were discovered inside Smith’s home in Commerce Way in Belhar on 12 June, after Altecia had gone there to fetch her
children.

Smith briefly appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday where his bail application continued.
However, National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesman Eric Ntabazalila says Smith opted not to apply for bail.
At the start of his bail application last week, Smith provided the State with two residential addresses where he would live should he be granted bail.
On Monday the court heard that the police investigating officer had checked and verified the addresses.
However, Smith then decided to abandon his bail application, Ntabazalila says.
“The matter was postponed to today to verify the address of the accused and continue with his bail application,” says Ntabazalila.
“The address was verified but the accused abandoned his bail application at this stage.
“The matter has now been postponed to 25 September 2020 for further investigation.”

Mitchells Plain activist Venetia Orgill says she is happy with the outcome of the bail hearing but urged the court to make the wheels of justice turn swiftly so the victims’ family can start to heal.
“With this postponement, it is easier said than done, because the family needs to get closure,” says Venetia.
“At the same time, it is very soothing to know that he’s not out on the streets.
“The ultimate outcome of this case has to be prison for life with no parole.”
Altecia’s family believes Smith killed her because she had dumped him.
They said the couple had a “rocky relationship” and that Smith was a drug addict.

The couple also has a nine-month-old son, while Altecia has a two-year-old son from another relationship.
The family say Altecia was angry because Smith had taken their children to his house for a visit against her wishes a few days earlier and she went to fetch them on 9 June.
They say Smith had returned the baby the Tuesday night.
