Her mother Charmaine says Charnelle went to school on Thursday morning and she never arrived home, she went looking for her daughter.
Her classmates told says the little girl never arrived at school that day.
Charmaine then proceeded to open a missing person’s case at the police station.
Charnelle’s grandmother discovered her body on the bank of the river.
She then alerted neighbours who contacted authorities.
Police are currently on the scene. At this stage, the cause of death is unknown.
This senseless killing brings up the child murder tally to 69 since January 2017 in the Western Cape.
