A man was seriously injured and two others less seriously when a tipper truck overturned on the Constantia Nek Road in Hout Bay on Saturday afternoon, paramedics in the Western Cape said.
ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, Metro, and fire services, arrived on the scene to find a truck on its side on the side of the road. A load of sand had been spilled across the road, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
“Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered that one man had been ejected from the vehicle and had sustained serious injuries. Two other men were found with only minor injuries.”
Paramedics treated the men and provided the seriously injured man with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the men were transported to Victoria Hospital for further treatment.
The driver later told authorities that the brakes had apparently failed, causing the truck to overturn, Meiring said.
