Two non-profit organisations are seeking funds for equipment to host an end of a year soccer tournament in Pinehurst.
Clinton Abrahams, 30, from CFK in Belhar, first joined forces with Antonio Titus from G2G Sports for Change in May, by hosting the soccer Street2Court in Belhar and Bellville for 80 laaities under the age of 17.
Clinton says: “Our personal testimonies are the reason we want to bring about change. I grew up on the streets, went down the wrong path, lost a father to drugs and more.
“We do this so boys don’t have to make the mistake of going down that path, but seeing that there is so much more out there.”
Now, wanting to end the year off on a high note, they need help in hosting a five-a-side soccer tournament for 50 boys on 7 December.
“The responses have been so positive that we have decided to host an end of year Street2Court Grand Slam Soccer Tournament at Fives Futbol Pinehurst and one every quarter of 2020 to give each boy an opportunity to be a part of this event,” Clinton says.
They need 50 water bottles, drawstring bags, roll-on or sprays, food hampers, medals with ribbons, three trophies, four size 5 soccer balls, four referee whistles and wallets, 10 soccer kits, 10 captain armbands, two ball pumps and six shuttle services.
