A controversial new show, which has had South Africans on the edge of their seats, has hit a few nerves and now some viewers want the show removed from DStv.
Uyajola 9/9, the local version of the American series Cheaters, has become a hit on Mojo Love, DStv channel 157 since its launch two weeks ago.
But the show’s host, Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye, has been slammed for making isiXhosa people out to be ‘promiscuous’.
Apparently there are fears for the safety of those exposed and requests to jol in peace.
A petition to ban the show was started last week on Change.Org and has over 800 signatures.
A second petition called ‘Stop Uyajola 9/9’ has 15 signatures.
Sherazaad Liesering has likened the show to colonialism.
“This show further seeks to damage and defame the public image of the nuclear family led by the faithful black African man, disenfranchising him yet again.
“First it was colonialism, then it was apartheid, now it is Uyajola 9/9,” Liesering wrote.
Mojo Love said they’ve not received any complaints yet.
