It’s the business end of the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association competition at Athlone Stadium.
On Saturday, Section 1 teams will find out who their section Carnival Kings are in a special trophy ceremony to crown the winners.
Also known as Koppe Dag, this event brings the curtain down on the carnival season for 2020.
Before that, the teams will still have to compete in the last events, including Coon Song, Best Band and Group Song, before the close.
The teams in this section are Exquisite Golden Gate, Bishop Lavis Youth Development, Hazendal, Hip Hop Entertainers, Fabulous Seawind Entertainers, Cape Town Hawkers, D6 Hanover Minstrels, Fabulous Woodstock Starlites, Juvie Boy Entertainers and West London All Stars.
KKKA director Muneeb Gambeno says: “On Saturday we have the first of the sectional finals.
"It represents the culmination of what has been one of the best carnival seasons in many years.
“Section 1 teams are presenting their Coon Song, Best Band and Group Song items to close out their season.
"These are marquee categories. We are as excited as the patrons to be part of Saturday’s competition and celebration.
“The ultimate highlight of the day will be the trophy ceremony, where we will find out who the Section 1 winners are.
“We are aiming to have the competition done by 9.30pm, with the trophy ceremony then following.”
Gates open at 11am. Tickets for adults general seating are R60 and for kids R35. Grandstand seating is R90 and VIP Suit entry is at R200.
Then on Sunday, get ready for a Supa Mega Jol as AKA takes the stage at the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts.
SUPER MEGA JOL: AKA to perform at Kirstenbosch
The Mitchells Plain rapper says: “Playing at Kirstenbosch has always been a goal of mine.
"It’s an environment where people come together to enjoy music and see a show, a family environment, which is what I like.
“I’ve always had that love for family in my music and for me to be able to perform at Kirstenbosch Gardens really highlights the fact that I’m a dad and performer that the whole family can enjoy, so I’m looking forward to the show.”
Speaking of family, concert-goers will be able to bring the kids along as the Summer Concerts sponsor, Old Mutual, will have a new #OldMutualKidsZone from 4pm to 6.30pm, with free activities, including an obstacle course for toddlers under 5.
Tickets are from R170 at Pick n Pay.
